Supplier sourcing, factory visits and multi-supplier coordination for a European machinery manufacturer.

Project Overview

A European machinery manufacturer contacted SourcingYuan to support the sourcing of multiple industrial components used in their low-pressure die casting equipment in 2024. The project required coordinating several types of mechanical parts from China, including

CNC machined components
hydraulic cylinders
pneumatic cylinders
and structural assemblies.

Some suppliers had already been identified by the client, while others required supplier sourcing and factory evaluation. SourcingYuan provided local coordination to support supplier sourcing, factory visits, technical communication and shipment preparation. This project is related to our CNC machining service.

Key Challenges

Several challenges needed to be addressed during this project.

Multiple suppliers across China

Different components required different manufacturing capabilities, which meant suppliers were located in several industrial regions from Dongguan/south of China, to Shanghai/east of China, to Nanjing/middle of China.

Technical communication

Many parts required discussions between the client’s engineers and factory technicians to clarify specifications and manufacturing requirements. Some parts are made by serval factories together and only one factory do the final assemble.

Supplier evaluation

For certain components, the client required support identifying suitable manufacturers and evaluating their production capabilities. We team visiting factory with cutomer together to do verification. To check production line, certification doc, talking with engineer from Factory,etc.

Shipment coordination

Because components were produced by multiple suppliers, logistics coordination and shipment preparation were necessary before export. We team need ship all products together to our Changzhou warehouse. And after that ship all together one time. And manage shipping with customer’s forwarder during Chinese new year.

Factory Visits and Supplier Evaluation

To help the client evaluate suppliers, SourcingYuan arranged factory visits during the client’s trip to China. During these visits we supported communication between the client and factory engineers, reviewed production capabilities and discussed technical specifications. These visits allowed the client to better understand the manufacturing environment and confirm that suppliers could meet the engineering requirements.

Supplier Coordination and Production Preparation

After suitable suppliers were confirmed, SourcingYuan supported ongoing communication between the client and factories.

Our team helped coordinate technical discussions, clarify specifications and assist with commercial negotiations when required. Because the project involved several types of industrial components, coordination between suppliers was necessary to maintain aligned production timelines.

Warehouse Consolidation and Shipment Preparation

Since the components were manufactured by suppliers located in different regions of China, shipment coordination was required before export. Our team arranged consolidation of goods from different suppliers and supported shipment preparation before international delivery. This allowed the client to receive all components in a coordinated shipment.

Project Outcome

Through structured supplier sourcing and factory coordination, the client successfully established manufacturing cooperation with several Chinese suppliers. The project demonstrates how local sourcing coordination in China can help overseas manufacturers manage complex procurement projects involving multiple suppliers and technical components.
